I definitely like certain parts of the song, but his singing in this is some of his worst. It’s shockingly flat, at parts almost unbearably so.

I think he should have gone much softer on the whole song, and it should have been just the piano and him. It also should have been slower. Just pared the whole thing down, and used gentler singing. Generally I try to avoid listening to, or talking about alternative versions of songs, but I was curious about whether he had ever performed it that way, and the original Demo of the song is definitely a lot closer to how I would have wanted him to sing this.

It’s worth hearing the whole song, because he does play with it throughout.

I think this song, despite being a love song, touches on an element of love that isn’t often discussed. However I can, off the top of my head, name at least one other song I know that does, so it gets a three.

Good – 3

I personally love this song, but it’s not a song I would show someone in the hopes of converting them to be a Billy Joel lover. I think it has some weaknesses that he, as a musician, overcomes in other songs.
